electric water kettle

Every time I move, the first thing I get for the kitchen is an electric kettle. Hot water just makes a kitchen feel like home. But, I’ve never found one that’s both good-looking and well-made. So I started to design one myself for my favorite brand, HAY.
This is my take on the ideal kettle, and I hope one day it finds a place in my own kitchen.

A cheerful kettle that brings character to your countertop.
Background
Brand Asthetic
HAY is renowned for its colorful yet elegant designs in the living space.
Its products cater to seekers of affordable luxury with a youthful and contemporary aesthetic.
A Gap in the Market
Most plastic-free kettles on the market tend to have a sterile, utilitarian look, while more playful designs often rely on cheaper materials. As a result, colorful and playful aesthetics are often associated with ‘fast’ fashion and lower quality.
I see HAY having the potential to introduce a colorful, playful, and high-quality water kettle to the market.
Sketches
I explored several design directions based on the keywords "Playful yet Refined."
Among them, the one featuring round and geometric elements aligns best with HAY's design language.
Moodboard
Based the chosen direction, I created a mood board to gather CMF references and form inspirations.
Finish
shiny and textured surfaces on different parts
Form
geometric outline with soft, rounded elements
